Skype ContactDo you have a lot of skype contacts? Is it getting hard to find someone? Here are several tips, that will give you back control over your skype contacts.

Remove Some Skype Contacts

I am sure that you don’t talk to everyone in your huge list of contacts. I bet there are at least few of them you don’t even know who they are! Go through your contacts and remove the people you do not know and these that you have not talked to for a loooong time.

Rename Everyone Else

All these different nicknames, all kinds of characters, pretty confusing. Some skype users even like to change their name once in a while. How can you tell who is who? Well, you rename all of them and use their real names. In order to do that, click with the right mouse button on one skype contact and choose Rename.

Group Your Contacts

At least part of your contacts can be grouped by some criteria. For example all your friends from school, or work, or your family.

In order to group your contacts in Skype 3.8:

  1. Go to the menu “View” and then “Contact Groups” and there put the checkbox “Enable Contact Groups”.
  2. Now in order to create a group go to “View” -> “Contact Groups” -> “Create New Contact Group”.
  3. Input the name and press Enter.
  4. Above your contact list you see the group name and the text “Drag contacts here” – drag with the mouse contacts that will be from this group.

In order to group your contacts in Skype 4.0 или Skype 5.0:

  1. Open the menu “Contacts”, and then “Contact Categories” and check the checkbox “See All Contact Categories”.
  2. Go to: Contacts -> Contact Categories -> Create New Category.
  3. Input the name and press Enter.
  4. Go to the top of your contact list and start dragging contacts to the area where it says “Drag contacts here”.
