Do you love the skype emoticons? If you also think that they are a good way of expressing emotion during internet chat, you will be very happy to hear that except the default emoticons, skype has additional hidden emoticons!
By default you can access only 72 skype emoticons. But actually these are not all. There is an emoticon, for instance, that gives the finger :). Also there is a headbanging in a wall and others too. Below you will see lists with the new and the old skype emoticons – the standard and the hidden ones.

Except all these, there are other emoticons that represent the country flags. The code is the following: (flag:XX). Instead of XX you need to put the 2-letter code of the given country. For example (flag:US) for the flag of USA. I have made a separate page that contains the full list of Skype flag codes.

By the way I deleted your other comment with the emoticon art code, because I don’t allow these codes to be published in the comments since they are very long. I am thinking about making a separate place for sharing them in the site, but for now it is only an idea and we will see when I will start working on it.

It is possible :). All sites have bugs.
This page that you are referring was blank because I made some changes to it and I have not considered that it will be a blank page after the change. The original idea is to return 405 error when opened directly. So actually there is no problem for users or for anyone. I fixed it and now it returns 405 if opened directly.

Hi. You just send the code of the emoticon on chat. For example you type (poolparty) and you send it to someone on chat (instant message).
You also forgot the flag bit (flag:XX) which if you want the canada flag you type (flag:ca) and so on…. there is 237 flag emotions so you should add them too!

Hi. If you search for “hug skype gif” in google images there is one animated that you can download but it is from the old type of icons.
If you want to make your own, one way to do it, that I can think of, for any of them, is to make a screenshot of all the possible frames of the icon while it is sitting in the Skype chat window and then use the images in a gif creating program to create the gif. It requires some work and software and some skills as well.

Hi.
Probably the emoticons are disabled from the options. Sign in and go to the menu Tools -> Options -> IM & SMS -> IM Appearance, check the boxes Show emoticons and Show animated emoticons, and save the settings.

Then I would say that maybe you are using an older version of Skype that does not support all the new icons. Are you with an older version and on which of the icons is this happening?
I updated Skype on Jan. 11, 2013. When I try to update, it says “you have the latest updates” (couldn’t find the version). It has happened to the flower, the yawn, and the sun.

Are you using a Mac or Windows? I see that people with Mac have talked about this problem on the internet. Didn’t see a solution though.
You can see the version by going to the menu Help -> About Skype.
Can you try to reinstall the Skype to see if that will work?

Hi. Unfortunately I don’t think there is. There is one fan made program that works with the old Skype 3 and adds the hidden icons (some of them actually) but it does not work with newer versions.
I found a kitty emote but have no idea how I made it, I was using speech recognition while i was typing and it heard my finger clickings on the keyboard as some word. The person I was talking to asked how I made the cat. I went to answer and it went away! So I have no idea how I made it lol.

Hi. Yes, we have discussed this somewhere in the comments. It is not really an emoticon. It is just a hidden thing that shows when you press and hold 3 keys at the same time. For example C+A+T works. Other combinations work as well but not all.

Hi. I am not sure if there is a best one. Everyone just uses the one he/she likes. I think people downgrade mainly for the way the program looks and for some features that they need and that have been removed later. So it depends on the reason for your downgrading. I am just using the most recent version.
