Hi. You will have to give much more info if I am to try to help you :). Skype version, Windows version, what exactly is the problem and are you doing everything right?

  3. I tried this step, it says that “The action can’t be completed because the folder or a file in it is open in another programme. Close the folder or file and try again”. Please help…

  4. Hi Bob. Please try restarting the computer and closing Skype if it automatically opens. After that try this again. If it does not work please tell me which Skype and which Windows you are using?

  5. Hi, Thanks a lot…This method was quite easy and effective..i almost thought of re-installing just to clean up the list..

Hi. I don’t know but this may work: try searching in Google for “application data folder in a mac” to see how to open the application data folder. And there find the Skype folder.

  8. Thanks very much – it’s great that you put this kind of info out on the web for others to benefit from. God bless you heaps!

  9. first time it still showed the list…..after restart it worked…

    veeeeeeeeeeeerrrryyy effective…thnx a lot

  10. @ramona
Hi. Thanks. I will have to check on that and edit the article. What did you restart, Skype or the computer? Because I have said to close Skype as the first step :).

  11. @john
Hi. What is the problem? Tell me and I will try to help.

  12. @rahmashan
Hi. Did you close Skype? Did you empty the trash? It should work. What are your Windows and Skype versions?

  13. @Bindu
Hi. Are you trying to delete the history or this is an error you are seeing? Please explain :).

Hi. Please check first if you did everything as it is described above. For example step 1 and 5. This should work on all versions but if it does not then tell me what Windows you use and what version of Skype and I will try it to see if it works with those on my computer.
    Regards.

Hi. I just tested it one more time just in case with the most recent Skype on Windows 7 and it works. Did you empty the trash and did you close Skype at the beginning?

  18. so guys first of all i tried but still nothing worked what you have 2 do is … ( windows 7 )
BEFORE THIS ALL REMEMBER TO CLOSE SKYPE…
    1. click start
    2. type in RUN
    3. type in %appdata%/skype
    4. click ok
    5. it will open a folder and then list of names saved in the login page.
    6. DELETE THE NAME U=YOU DONT WANT .
7 FINALLY DELETE FROM THE RECYCLE BIN..
8.OPEN SKYPE AND YOU’LL BE SUPRISED LOL

  19. @Dominik
Thanks for trying to help :). But actually this is exactly the same thing.

  20. i know im sorry but when i read it for the first time i did not get it and did not work so i just tried to clear it up bit so pls dont take me wrong

  21. Thanks a lot bro.. All the stuff on this site are amazing. Loved it!! :) And I just had lots of Skype names because people used my laptop :D. For some people if it doesn’t work, just QUIT Skype. Don’t close QUIT it! :) Because I closed it lol… then after quitting it worked.

  22. I tried all the ways but it didn’t work.
I have windows professional but I don’t know why its not working. Please help me!

  23. @Shafa
Oh… I just now realized the difference between Close and Quit. Oops! In my defense I will say that English is not my native language.
Thank you very much for letting me know. I will have to fix everywhere on the site where I say Close. It should be Quit. I am writing this down to fix it on Monday.
    Regards.

    @Mevrouw
Hi. Did you QUIT Skype? Or did you close it? I have made a mistake in the article. You have to quit it.

  24. Hi, I tried to delete the folder with the user name, when I start Skype again, it’s clear, but when I log in with any username, the system creates a new folder automatically and I’m back to the begining of this problem You can’t delete the folders every time you log out…so, what’s the definite solution for this problem in Windows XP? Skype 5.10.0.116

    Thanks

  25. @GC
Hi. I do not think that it is possible to do that without making Skype not work anymore. This is the solution everyone use as far as I know. It is useful for a one time thing, when you log in somewhere on a public computer or something like that.
    Regards.

  26. @Cynphanie
Hi. Unfortunately this is not possible. You have to make a whole new Skype account. You can change your display name though. Regards.

  27. @jiffie
Hi. I actually read it somewhere on the Internet, but still thanks for the comment :).

  28. Hi, I’m using Windows Vista, and it says that it can’t find the %appdata%/skype thing. Please help!

  29. @Andrew
Hi. This should work with Vista as well, but I haven’t tested it though. Are sure you are typing this in the address bar and not the search bar? You can also do Start -> Run and type it there and click OK. It should work as well.

  30. @Angel
Hi. You want to listed to old calls somehow? Well Skype is definitely not recording them :). So unless you have used some software to record them, I don’t see how.

  31. I tried it but it isn’t working ._. I deleted the right folder and from recycle bin too but it`s still there, what to do? Q~Q
    Windows xp o-o
