Organize Your Skype Contacts

Skype ContactsDo you have a lot of Skype contacts? Is it getting hard to find someone? Here are several tips, that will give you back control over your contact list.

Remove Some of Them

I am sure that you don’t talk to everyone in your huge list of contacts. I bet there are at least few of them you don’t even know who they are! Go through your contacts and remove the people you do not know and the ones that you have not talked to in years.

Rename Everyone Else

All these different nicknames, all kinds of characters, it is pretty confusing. Some Skype users even like to change their name once in a while. How can you tell who is who? Well, you rename all of them and use their real names. In order to do that, right click on a contact and choose Rename.

Group Your Contacts

At least part of your contacts can be grouped by some criteria. For example all your friends from school, or work, or your family. Here are instructions for the different Skype versions:

  4. Go to the top of your contact list and start dragging contacts to the area where it says Drag contacts here.

  2. Go to: Contacts -> Contact Categories -> Create New Category.
